2000 Dodge Caravan Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Supply Hose on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: Before you repair or service anything, first remove the cap from the remote reservoir and use a siphon pump to get rid of all the fluid. After unhooking the clip from the supply hose to the stud in the strut tower, elevate the car. Get a wrench or screwdriver and remove the hose clamp at the supply hose's connection with the power steering pump, then take the supply hose off the pump fitting. Drop the vehicle, remove the clamp holding the supply hose to the reservoir and pull the supply hose from the vehicle. When installing for V-6 applications, the power steering fluid supply hose should be tightly against the strut tower and parallel to the dash panel, below the wiring harness and below the drip tube to keep it from being touched by the accessory drive belt. Bring the reservoir hose to the power steering pump, seal its end on the fitting properly with a hose clamp and make sure its bead is not covered by the clamp. Pick up the vehicle once more and put the supply hose into the power steering pump fitting, then use a hose clamp to hold it in place. Carefully bring the vehicle's front down and fit the routing clip on the steering hose and attach it to the strut tower stud, ensuring everything fits. Fill the reservoir on your remote as directed and wait at least two minutes for the fluid to settle. Turn the key, let the engine run for some seconds and then stop it, filling in fluid as needed. Do this until the fluid remains unchanged after engine operation. Always check the faucets for signs of leaks.
