2000 Dodge Caravan Power Steering Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Power Steering Reservoir on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: The first step to serving or repairing the power steering reservoir is to remove its filler cap and drain as much fluid from the reservoir as possible. Put your hands inside, remove the clamp joining the supply hose to the reservoir and remove the screws keeping the reservoir in place on the inner fender. Swivel the reservoir so it leaves the area near the fender and separate it from the power steering fluid supply pipe. First, hook the hose from the reservoir to the reservoir fitting on the car. Next, connect the tab of the reservoir into the hole on the inner fender and rotate so that the screw tabs are in line for fitting the screws. After sliding the clamp onto the tank, hold it with one hand and, using another, securely tighten the 2 screws. Pour power steering fluid to the proper point in the reservoir, turn on the engine and allow it to operate briefly, disconnect it and add further fluid if you need to before installing the filler cap.
