Start by hoisting the vehicle with jackstands or a hoist centered on the frame, making sure 2 jackstands are placed outside at both ends of the rear axle. If the bolt on the shock absorber goes upward when you try to remove it, let the jack handle upward pressure to raise the axle; but if it points downward, lower the axle by the same amount. First remove the shock absorber's lower mounting bolt, hold the shock absorber and then get rid of the upper mounting bolt and the shock absorber as well. To fit the shock absorber, line it up with the frame rail, attach the upper mounting bolt and secure the shock in place with the lower mounting bolt. Lift the support jack and bring the vehicle carefully to the ground so all its weight is now only on the suspension and tires. After that, tighten the upper and lower shock absorber mounting bolts to a torque of 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.).
