How to service a rear bumper on 2000 Dodge Dakota?

For rear bumper repair, it's important to first lift the bumper with a proper lifting device. Unfasten the bolts holding the inner bumper brackets to the rails of the frame. As soon as you have the wiring kit, pop out the license plate lamp connector from the body wire harness and disconnect the rear bumper from the car. To put on the bumper, hoist it with a suitable lift to its correct place. When the vehicle is equipped, link the license plate lamp wire to the wire harness coming from the body. Put the inner bumper bracket bolts into the frame rails and tighten them to 94 N.m (70 ft.lbs) and then take off the lifting device.
