2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Alternator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an Alternator on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: The first step in servicing or repairing an alternator is to unlock the hood and pull it open. Turn off power to the vehicle, then remove the windshield wiper housing as prescribed in the owner's manual. After that, remove the accessory drive belt. To install the generator mount bracket, remove the bolt connecting the generator's mount plate to the air intake, then remove the three bolts holding the generator mount bracket to the mount plate and lastly the screw on the top of the generator mount bracket. Get the generator mount bracket out of the vehicle and start turning the generator to the rear dash panel. Remove the push-in field wire connector from behind the generator first, then take off the nut holding the B+ wire terminal to the back of the generator and take out the B+ terminal. Undo the bolt under the generator and then remove it from the lower pivot bracket. Put the generator in place inside the vehicle and use the bolt to link the generator at the bottom to the pivot bracket below. Attach the B+ terminal to the generator and use a nut to secure it to the back of the generator with the wires. After setting the field wire, fit the other end of push-in field wire connector into the back of the generator and push the unit forward. Install the generator's bracket on the vehicle and fix the top bracket onto the mount with the bolt; then, attach the bolts to hold the outside corners of the mount bracket to the plate. Place the bolt to secure the top of the mount bracket to the engine air intake plenum and after that install the accessory drive belt. Connect the windshield wiper housing, attach the battery negative cable to its proper place and make sure the generator's output is correct.
