2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Door Handle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Sliding Door Handle on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: When dealing with repairing or servicing the outside door handle, first remove the sliding door trim panel and the sliding door stop bumper. Carefully remove the watershield from the inner door by peeling back the edges and - once they're free - you'll see the fasteners for the release handle. Following this, get rid of the latch/lock control cover and free the clip holding the outside door handle linkage against the handle. Take the linkage off from the outside door handle and from the latch/lock control. After that, release the nuts holding the outside door handle to the main part of the door and remove the handle from the vehicle. After lifting the handle up to the outer door, attach it to the frame by threading the nuts into the bolts. Pull the linkage onto the outside door handle and press the clip to keep it there. Attach the rigging-cam to the latch/lock control mechanism, place the clip on the latch/lock control at the bottom end of its slot and join up the linkage to the latch/lock control. Check how the sliding door works and make any improvements you believe are necessary. Put the lock cover in place, attach the watershield securely, move it around to assure correct routing of wires and connect all links to fix the door bumper and trim panel on the exterior.
