2000 Dodge Neon Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Oil Pan on 2000 Dodge Neon?
A: First, remove the negative cable from the battery and put the vehicle onto a hoist. Take out the engine oil by draining it, then remove the oil filter and, finally, unscrew the oil filter adaptor from the engine block. You should then remove the structural collar and lateral bending brace by unattaching the bolts that secure them and then remove the dust cover around the transaxle. After that, remove all the bolts from the oil pan and lift off the pan. When installing, wash the oil pan and all sealing points, putting Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant on the oil pump and engine block parting line. Install the oil pan gasket into the oil pan, fit the pan into its place and screw the bolts in until they reach 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Attach the transaxle dust cover, lateral bending brace and structural collar. Attach the oil filter adaptor and tighten everything together to generate 80 Nm (60 ft. lbs.) before putting on the oil filter. After that, lower the vehicle again and put in the right oil until the level inside the engine crankcase is correct.
