2000 Dodge Neon Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2000 Dodge Neon?
A: Accessory drive belts must first be removed to access the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley. Afterwards, bring the car up on a hoist and unbolt the right inner splash shield. Then, take the crankshaft damper bolt away and apply the bigger side of Special Tool 1026 together with insert 6827-A to remove the damper. While installing, place the crankshaft damper in its original position using an M12-1.75 x 150 mm bolt, washer, thrust bearing and nut from Special Tool 6792. Afterwords, fix in the crankshaft damper bolt and tighten it with Special Tool 6847 and a torque wrench to 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Afterward, attach the new accessory drive belts, pull the vehicle up and fit the proper inner splash shield.
