2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Battery Tray Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Battery Tray on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: In order to access the battery tray, an initial step is to remove the battery followed by the removal of battery temperature sensor in case one is located on the left battery tray. Then unscrew the two screws holding an outboard side of the battery tray in place to the inner fender shield using washers. On the engine compartment, remove the two nuts with washers which secure the rear of the battery tray support to the studs on the front wheelhouse inner panel. Take out of the front fender wheelhouse the two nuts with washers fastening the front of battery tray support to the studs which extend through the underside of the front wheel house inner panel, then the stud plate which fastens the back of battery tray support. Take off the battery tray and a stud plate that holds the front of the battery tray support as whole. When the vehicle speed control package is installed, disconnect the speed control servo mounted in the left battery tray support. Install the battery tray cleaned the battery tray, and inspected, then, where necessary, the speed control servo to the left battery tray support. Bolt on the stud plate on the front battery tray support, fit the battery tray and stud plate together on the front wheel house inner panel and fix the 2 nuts and washers loosely to the front battery tray support. Place the stud plate as the rear of the battery tray support and loosely fasten two nuts with washers at the rear. Fit the screws of the outboard side of the battery tray to the inner fender shield and tighten them to 15.8 Nm (140 in. lbs.) and then ensure that all four screws with washers fixing the battery tray support to the stud plates on the inner panel of the front wheelhouse all even up to the same torque specification. In case of mounting left battery tray, seed battery temperature sensor and lastly mount the battery on battery tray.
