How to Service an Exhaust Manifold on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500?

Remove the battery's negative cable, disconnect it and use blocks underneath the wheel wells to ensure the vehicle is safely raised. Take the exhaust pipe off the exhaust manifold and remove all exhaust heat shields along with the vehicle. After this, unscrew the bolts, nuts and washers that fix the manifold onto the cylinder head and remove the manifold from the cylinder head. If any of the studs expose their nuts during the removal process, add sealer to the coarse ends of the studs to keep water from entering. On the two studs on the cylinder head, fit the positioning of the engine exhaust manifolds, then apply the conical washers and nuts. Place two bolts and conical washers in the engine exhaust manifold outboard arms and add two bolts without washers to the center arm. Do the tightening, starting in the middle of the suspension and moving outward, to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Put in the exhaust heat shields, lift the vehicle again and fit the exhaust pipe to the manifold, securing it with bolts, nuts and retainers until the tightening reaches 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Then, lift the vehicle, attach the negative cable to the battery and lower the vehicle again.
