2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Van Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the exhaust manifold on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: Before starting to service or repair the exhaust manifold, pull out the negative cable and then raise and support your vehicle. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and let the vehicle down. After removing the exhaust heat shields, take out the bolts, nuts and washers that hold the manifold to the cylinder head and finally pull out the manifold. When you lose the studs with the nuts, put in new studs and cover their coarse thread ends with sealer so that water doesn't leak. Fit the exhaust manifolds onto the top two studs on the cylinder head and install some conical washers and nuts there. Install two bolts along with conical washers near the ends of the engine exhaust manifold outboard arms and use only the bolts, with no washers, on the center arm. Deliver torque to bolts and nuts in a way that starts with the center arm and moves outward, reaching 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) tightness. Fit the exhaust heat shields, raise and support the vehicle on its stands once more and attach the exhaust pipe to the manifold. Use bolts and retainers and tighten each to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) torque. When all is done, lower the vehicle and attach the negative cable to the battery.
