Open the engine by removing the cylinder head and its gasket before touching the rocker arm assembly. After that, take the bolts and pivots holding the rocker arms off and set them in sequence on a bench, making sure to do the same with the push rods. Manually turn the crankshaft until the "V8" mark is lined up with the TDC mark on the timing chain case cover which is found 147° after Top Dead Centre. Out of the No.1 firing position came ATDC. Put the push rods back in place as you took them off, then attach the rocker arm and pivot assemblies in the right order by hand and tighten the rocker arm bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Allow the hydraulic roller tappets at least five minutes to bleed down before putting on the cylinder head cover; do not try to rotate or crank the engine before or after you install the rocker arms.
