  A: For timing cover repairs, you should begin by unhooking the negative terminal on the battery. First, disconnect the water pump, next the power steering pump and lastly take out the vibration damper. Take off the oil pan bolts and unscrew one front mounting bolt from either side. After that, remove the cover bolts and take away the chain case cover and gasket, being careful not to touch or damage the oil pan gasket. Try to loosen the oil seal with a suitable tool so you do not harm the seal surface on the cover case. The mating surfaces of the chain case cover and cylinder block will work best if they're clean and smooth and also clean the place you will mount the water pump. Put the water pump and housing, together with new gaskets, into place and tighten the bolts, setting them to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.), before you fit the power steering pump. Apply the serpentine belt, the cooling system fan and fasten both using the directions given. Fully fill the cooling system, attach the negative cable back to the battery and run the engine to see if any leaks develop.
