2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the front shock absorber on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: Remove the upper nut, retainer and bushing from the shock stud before doing any work on the front shock. Then, raise your vehicle, remove the bottom bolts and lift out the shock from the lower suspension arm. First, ease the lower retainer and bushing onto the stud and then push the shock absorber into the frame hole through the lower suspension arm and up to the upper stud. After that, put in the lower shock bolts and tighten them to a torque of 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). The last step is to install the upper grommet and retainer on the shock absorber stud, then the nut and tighten it to 34 Nm or 25 ft. lbs.
