2000 Jeep Cherokee Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Address Issues with the Cruise Control Servo in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee?
A: Always start by breaking the negative battery ground cable at the battery to repair or service the cruise control servo. After that, pull off the vacuum line and socket connected to the servo, then remove the cable from the throttle body, using the proper recommendations to install and remove the cable. Cut the two nuts holding the servo cable sleeve to the bracket, then lift the sleeve away from the mounting bracket to uncover and remove the retaining clip for the speed control cable. Watch the position of the servo while lifting it out of the bracket. Install the servo by lining up the cable connector's hole with the servo pin, putting it in the bracket and placing the cable-to-servo retaining clip. Go through the holes on the mounting bracket with the servo studs and install the nuts, giving them a torque of 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.). Connect each end of the vacuum line and electrical wire to your servo and then join the other end of the servo cable to the throttle body, repeating the process from before. After that, attach the negative battery cable back to the battery and, without starting the engine, test the accelerator pedal for any trouble.
