2001 Chrysler Town & Country Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 2001 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before you service or repair the starter motor, release the hood latch, open the hood and take off the negative terminal from the battery. Place the vehicle on safety stands to support it while working. See how the B+ terminal is attached by a nut, so remove the nut and then disconnect the connector from the starter. After that, unbolt the starter from the transaxle bellhousing and use caution to remove the starter out of the bellhousing, along with removing the starter spacer. The starter spacer should be positioned with the flange against the flywheel when placed on the transaxle bellhousing. When that's done, insert the starter into position. Insert the bolts and bend the ground wire into the starter to strap it to the transaxle bellhousing, hook the solenoid connector to the starter and fasten the B+ nut to the starter solenoid. Drop the car to the lowest setting, link the battery negative cable again and check that the starter is running correctly.
