2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Blend Door Actuator in the Rear on 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Shut off the negative terminal of the battery as the initial step in servicing the rear air door actuator. Tear out the right quarter trim panel and right D-pillar trim panel from the quarter inner panel. Following this, release the two screws on the top that secure the trim panel to the interior quarter, the screw holding the rear heater-A/C unit at the right D-pillar and the screw at the top of the housing at the right quarter inner panel. Pull the upper section of the rear heater-A/C unit housing free from the right quarter inner panel to get to the blend door actuator. Remove the two screws that attach the actuator to the rear heater-A/C unit and slide it a bit to loosen it from the blend air door pivot. Remove the rear HVAC wire harness connector from the actuator connector receptacle and get rid of the blend door actuator. When installing, insert the blend door actuator between the quarter inner panel and the rear HVAC unit housing, reconnect the rear HVAC wire harness to the connector and position the actuator on the rear heater-A/C unit so that the output shaft aligns with the blend air door pivot. Secure the blend door actuator to the unit housing at the rear using two 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.) screws, then carefully push the top of the unit housing so it sits against the right quarter inner panel. Fasten and tighten the screws securing the front and back of the rear heater-A/C unit housing to the doors, each to an 11 Nm (97 in. lbs. / 13 ft. lbs.) torque. Tighten both the screws that secure the top of the quarter trim panel attaching bracket to the quarter inner panel to 1.7 Nm (15 in. lbs.), then put the right quarter trim panel and right D-pillar panel back on the quarter inner panel. After that, fit the battery negative cable back and calibrate the heater-A/C control system.
