2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Your Thermostat on 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before servicing the thermostat, empty the fluid from the cooling system below the thermostat, removing the upper hose from where it is attached to the radiator's coolant outlet. After that, remove both bolts securing the coolant outlet connector and take away the connector itself. Then, take out the thermostat from the connector outlet. Throw away the old gasket and wipe both sides of the area that the new gasket will cover. When installing, remove any large pieces of metal from the wall where you staked the old OEM thermostat, since you don't need to create another staking recess for the replacement parts. Fit the new thermostat over the coolant outlet, making sure its locating notches fit precisely in place for air bleed. Cover the thermostat and its connector with a new gasket and make sure the thermostat is sitting where it should. Fit the thermostat and connector assembly over the intake manifold, using a torque of 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Then, attach the radiator upper hose to the coolant outlet connector and top off the cooling system.
