2001 Dodge Intrepid Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Washer Pump for Optimal Performance on 2001 Dodge Intrepid?
A: The first step is to lift the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable at the remote battery mount. Remove the left headlamp facing the front of the car and put it aside. Afterward, remove the four retaining bolts holding the washer reservoir in place, disconnect the pump and sensor wires and take off the hoses from the washer tank and water filler. Get the inboard part of the reservoir out by pulling it forward and pulling the pump out of it. Each time you replace the pump, put a new grommet into the filter to avoid any leaks. First install the new grommet and then place the pump motor on top of the grommet and snap it down. Put the reservoir down into the engine compartment with the inside side pointing backward and then reconnect the washer filler line, washer hose and pump and sensor wires. Join the washer reservoir onto the engine block with the four retaining bolts and insert the left headlamp assembly back into place. Next, attach the negative cable back to the remote battery post.
