2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to properly remove and install an oil filter on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: All engines have a good high-quality, disposable, full-flow oil filter and it is suggested to use only a Mopar filter or a similar one. Set a drain pan beneath the filter and unscrew or loosen it with the appropriate filter wrench. Turn the oil filter anticlockwise to take it off from the cylinder block oil filter boss. As soon as the filter comes away from the adapter nipple, point the end with the gasket downward to prevent oil leaks and take the filter off the vehicle. Before installing a new filter, use a wiping cloth to remove any oil and grease from the part the filter seals. Patch the oil filter gasket with grease or engine oil and screw the filter securely down on the adapter nipple. As soon as the gasket's surface reaches the surface you are sealing, turn the filter once tightly (but not too much). After that, pour in the oil.
