2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Brake Master Cylinder on 2001 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before you do anything, pump the brake pedal a number of times until the booster runs out of vacuum. After that, unscrew the brake lines from the brake master cylinder and also unbolt the mounting nuts to remove the brake master cylinder from the master bracket. Bleeding the brake master cylinder is necessary before you install it. Put the new brake master cylinder onto the booster studs, tighten them with the provided nuts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) and reattach the brake lines, tightening them to a range of 19 - 23 Nm (170 - 200 inch lbs.). The next step is to bleed the base brake system to complete everything.
