How to Maintain and Fix a Shock Absorber on 2001 Jeep Cherokee?

Initially, lose the bolts that attach the upper mounting bracket to the body, then get rid of the nut and washer at the bottom of the bracket stud to take the shock absorber out. Once ready to install, put the lower shock eye on the spring bracket stud and secure the upper bolts of the shock absorber on the body bracket. Apply 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.) of force on the middle nut and 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) on both of the top bolts.
