2002 Chrysler 300M Alternator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Alternator on 2002 Chrysler 300M?
A: You should disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning to fix or repair the alternator. Before you remove it, loosen the lower mounting bolt. Once that's done, take out and set aside the upper radiator support. Again, loosen the lower mounting bolt plus the pivot bolt and the belt adjustment bolt. Unfasten the drive belt and remove the lower mounting bolt as well. Disconnect the generator field connector, free the B+ wire and nut and lastly remove the pivot bolt to remove the generator. Installation should start with putting the generator in place and attaching the pivot and lower mounting bolts. Connect the B+ wire, attach it firmly using 9.8 Nm (85 ± 15 in. lbs.) and settle the generator field circuit connector on the joint. Install the new drive belt, tighten the main belt-locking bolt and tighten the right-lower mounting bolt, then put the upper radiator support back and tighten its bolts. After removing the negative battery cable, return it to its place and check that all fasteners are fixed as required.
