Q: How to Service and Repair an Engine Mount on 2002 Chrysler Prowler?
A: For maintenance or repair of the engine mounts, begin with the right engine mount and disconnect the negative post on the battery, lift the car with a hoist and let the vehicle sit for a moment with the car on the hoist. Take out the attaching nuts on the right and left engine mount isolator from the crossmember. Lift the engine with a jack and a block of wood placed the full width of the oil pan and take off the bolts holding the engine mount bracket. Lift up the engine just to get past the isolator stud and remove the isolator from the bracket, taking the mount bracket with it. Follow the same steps for the left engine mount, unplug the negative cable and raise the car. Unfasten the attaching nuts for each engine mount isolator, lift up the right or left side and remove the nut on the engine mount isolator from the engine mount bracket. After the oil filter, remove the four bolts that secure the engine mount bracket to the engine. Again lift the engine just enough to get the mount bracket and isolator out. When installing the engine mount, withdraw the isolator, fit it over the engine mount bracket and tighten the nuts to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). Holding the engine high enough, fit the isolator and the engine mount bracket in place, install the bolts and tighten to 60 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Make sure the locating dowel on the left engine mount isolator is in the match slot of the crossmember, lower the engine as you guide the isolator studs into the crossmember mounts, then install and secure the isolator to nuts on both engine mounts, applying 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) of torque. When you have finished working, lift the vehicle, take off the jack and join the negative battery cable back in place. When mounting the left engine support, with the engine raised slightly, fit the isolator to the crossmember, attach the mount bracket and tighten the bolts to 60 Nm (45 ft. lbs). Put the isolator onto the engine mount bracket nut and tighten it by 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) and afterward put in the engine oil filter. Align the locating dowel on the left engine mount isolator, lower the engine by maneuvering the isolator studs, add the right and left engine mount isolator to the nuts on the crossmember, tighten them to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.), remove the jack, lower the vehicle and attach the negative battery cable once again.
