2002 Chrysler Prowler Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install the Left Exhaust Manifold on 2002 Chrysler Prowler?
A: Before you remove the left exhaust manifold, take off the negative cable from the battery and afterwards, take off the left hood side panel. To continue, unscrew the screws holding the PDC (Power Distribution Center) and remove it separately. Lift the power steering reservoir off its bracket and keep it near you. Free up the V-Band clamp so the catalytic converter can be separated from the exhaust manifold without putting the clamp back into use. Take out the oxygen sensor by first disconnecting the connector from the sensor on the exhaust manifold. Loosen and remove the screws of the upper and lower heat shields from the manifold, unbolt the manifold and take it out. Check the exhaust manifolds for issues or breaks and use a straight edge and thickness gauge to check if the cylinder head mounting surface is bent. When bolting on the manifold, slide the V-Band clamp over the exhaust manifold, putting it between the outlet flange and the oxygen sensor boss. Attach the manifold to the cylinder head and tighten every bolt starting at the middle and working outward to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Attach the heat shields to the manifold, after which 12 Nm (or 105 in. lbs.) of tightening force should be applied to each screw. Place the oxygen sensor into the manifold and tighten it to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and after that, attach the sensor's electrical connector. Put the V-Band clamp on the catalytic converter then tighten it to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.). After placing the support bracket onto the reinstalled reservoir, anchor the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and the left hood side panel. Place the negative cable on the battery after finishing all other steps.
