2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Air Bag on 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before servicing the air bag, clear any powder remaining in your car's interior. Undo the two screws that connect the Driver air bag to the steering wheel and take out the air bag. Take out the wire connectors from both the air bag and the Clock Spring. Ensure your tires are centered by adjusting the steering wheel and then take out the steering wheel. After removing the 2-way and 4-way connectors on the clock spring-to-wiring harness, take out the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Push in on both tabs on the clock spring to take it out of the housing. If your air bag is not deployed, open the air bag console, remove the screws holding the air bag/horn switch on the steering wheel and take out the air bag. For an air bag in use, clean it, install a replacement steering column assembly and lower assembly and finish by putting in the clock spring. Attach the air bag and fix it with the screws; make sure you tighten them to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). If the air bag hasn't been deployed, set the new air bag in the cavity and hold it in place by screwing the two screws to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs). An air bag system diagnosis and test should be completed before attaching the negative battery cable.
