Disconnect the negative battery cable and then set the system aside for two minutes so the SRS discharges. Do not let any foreign materials enter the passenger air bag or get caught between the cushion and door and do not paint the door of the passenger air bag as it may keep the bag from deploying when expected. Together attach the passenger air bag and air bag door to the instrument panel, then gently lower the air bag into the panel until the air bag mounting bracket matches the structural support bracket. Place the snap clip on the air bag door on the outside close to the instrument cluster and press it down until it snaps into place with the receptacle. Attach the instrument panel wire harness connector back to the passenger air bag inflator pigtail wire connector while the latch and red lock on the connector are fully in place. Fasten the retainer of the air bag harness to the structural support, attach and tighten the three screws to the bracket on the instrument panel support to a torque of 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). After that, add and tighten the first screw in the back, then the two in the middle and the last three in the front of the air bag door to the instrument panel, ensuring you do not let any of the screws go into the defroster outlet. After fitting the upper
Glove Box to the instrument panel, wait until you finish the SRS verification test after working on any component of the SRS before you reconnect the battery.
