How to service and repair brake hoses and Brake Lines on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?

A preformed, metal brake tube is preferred for brake hose and line service and repair, but a double-wall steel tube can be used if the proper parts from the factory are not available. Kinking or twisting of brake tubes can be avoided with the right special tools and both double inverted flares and ISO flares are created using specific bending tools. With a Tubing Cutter, remove the portion with the hole and afterward use a reamer to flare the cut side of the tubing properly. Put the replacement tube nut on the tube and then slide the tube into the flaring tool. Apply the tube to the flaring tool and, pushing through with the gauge form, make sure the tube is resting in the recessed section that is sized for your tube. Screw the tool bar into the tube, push the pendant plug of the gauge into it, slide the compression drum over the gauge and adjust the flaring screw so it is centered in the center of the compression drum. After tightening the handle so the plug gauge is properly lined up, take the gauge out and finish creating the inverted flare.
