How to Service the Axle Shaft on a 248RBI Rear Axle on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?

First, loosen the bolts of the axle shaft flange attached to the rear axle 248RBI and then pull the axle shaft out of the axle tube. Before installation, rub the area between the gasket and the flange with an appropriate solvent, insert a fresh gasket into the flange and slide the axle shaft back into the tube. After that, put in all the bolts and secure them to a torque of 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.).
