How to Service the Drive Belt for Power Steering on 2002 Dodge Stratus?

Raise the vehicle on a hoist first, then take out the right front wheel and the splash shield that covers the belt. After that, take off the compressor/generator belt, then loosen the pivot bolt and locking bolt/nut. Pull the pump assembly in toward the engine and as you do, remove the belt. Remove all the dirt, oil, grease and coolants from the belt pulleys as part of your pre-installation routine. Belt replacement is required if the belt is very worn, has frayed cords or is severely hot-glazed. While small cracks on the ribbed side due to reversal are normal, parallel cracks in any area are not normal. Don't apply any type of dressing or restorer to Poly-V Belts. For installation, fit the new belt on the pulleys, stick the 1/2" drive breaker bar into the square opening and spin the bolt/nut clockwise to tighten until the belt reaches the right tension. Turn the pivot bolt tightly, fit the air conditioning compressor/generator belt and replaces the splash shield and right front wheel, then lower the vehicle.
