For drive belt service and repair, use a hoist to lift the vehicle, take out the front wheel and also the belt splash shield. For the AC compressor's belt, loosen the bolts that hold the tensioner and pivot buttons, then turn the tensioner clockwise to give enough space to remove the belt. After you remove the air conditioning belt, loosen the power steering pump belt's adjusting bolt carefully so it can rotate smoothly, but do not loosen the pivot bolt. Remove the steering belt for your vehicle. Wipe all grease, oil and coolants off the belt pulleys before you place the drive belts. When the belts are too worn, their cords frayed or they have extensive glazing, they need replacement, but a few cracks along the ribbed part are allowed. Don't put any belt dressing or restorer on Poly-V Belts. Be sure the drive belt is where it should be and that all V-grooves on the belt meet the pulleys during installation. First, place the air conditioning compressor/generator belt on the pulleys, then use a 1/2" drive breaker bar to squeeze the tensioner square in a counterclockwise direction while you lock both bolts in place. Replace the splash shield and the front wheel before you start lowering the car. After that, fit the power steering belt over the vehicle's pulleys, then tighten the adjusting bolt using the breaker bar in the bracket opening on the power steering pump. After all that, replace the air conditioning compressor/generator belt, then the belt splash shield, then reattach the right front wheel and lower the car ready for the road.
