2003 Chrysler Voyager Water Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Water Pump on 2003 Chrysler Voyager?
A: First, remove the negative cable from the battery and lift the vehicle onto a hoist to service and repair the water pump. Take out the inner splash shield from the right side, the accessory drive belts and drain the system for coolant. Lift the engine from below and detach the right engine mount, after that, the right engine mount bracket, the timing belt and the timing belt idler pulley. Hold the camshaft sprocket with Special tool C-4687 and adapter C-4687-1 while removing the bolt and then take out both cam sprockets, the timing belt rear cover and the generator with its bracket. If required, wipe the mating surfaces of the gasket and carefully check the water pump for things like cracks, coolant leakage from the shaft seal, moving bearings that are not smooth, impeller rubbing or flawed impeller or sprocket. Put an O-ring gasket in the water pump groove and check that it is located correctly to avoid leakage. Put the pump body onto the block and tighten its screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.), then give the cooling system a pressure of 103.4 Kpa (15 psi) to see if there are any leaks at the water pump seal and O-ring. Turn the pump by hand to make sure it can move easily and then install the timing belt rear cover along with the camshaft sprockets and torque them to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) while holding the sprocket. Attach and tighten the timing belt idler pulley bolt to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.), then set in the timing belt, the mount bracket for the generator and the generator itself. Afterward, fit the proper engine mount bracket and engine mount, fill the radiator, put on the accessory drive belts, lower the car and attach the battery cable.
