To work on the water pump, take the negative cable off the battery and raise your car with a hoist. Unscrew the splash shield from the right inside of the engine and loosen the belt around the alternator and supercharger, before draining the coolant. Hold the bottom of the engine as you take out the right
Engine Mount and its bracket. After that, get rid of the
Timing Belt and idler pulley as well. Apply C-4687 tool and C-4687-1 adapter to the camshaft sprocket when removing the bolt and remove both sprockets after that. Reach inside the pulley area and remove the rear cover over the timing belt, along with the generator and its bracket. Now remove the screws that secured the water pump to the engine. Installation involves adding an O-ring gasket to the groove in the water pump body, so the new O-ring is properly aligned to avoid any leaks. Tighten the screws on the pump body to the block until you reach 12 Nm (approximately 105 inch lbs.). Get the system to 103.4 Kpa (15 psi) in pressure and give the shaft seal and O-ring a check to look for any leaks and finally rotate the pump to confirm free movement. Put the timing belt rear cover on, set up the camshaft sprockets and tighten their bolts to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). Fit the timing belt idler pulley and turn the mounting bolt with a torque wrench to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Once again, place the generator mount bracket, followed by the generator, the right side engine mount bracket and the engine mount. Cool the system, installed the accessory
Drive Belts, lower the vehicle and secure the battery cable.
