2003 Dodge Durango Throttle Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Throttle Cable on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: First, inside of the car, hold up the accelerator pedal and remove the plastic retainer and the wire with the cable at the front end of the pedal arm. After that, detach the cable from the paddle and remove the clip attaching it to the console above the steering wheel. Take out the air box connected to the throttle body and pull the cable from the routing clip on the dash panel. Insert the cable housing into the engine region and unhook the accelerator cable connector at the throttle body bellcrank pin using only your fingers, being careful not to pull straight like it could snap. Release the accelerator by pulling on the cable at the top of the cable cam and pressing the tab until the plastic mount slides off the bracket and towards the passenger side. To install, slip the mounting bracket's tab into the tab on the accelerator cable plastic mount, run the cable over the top of the cable cam and join the cable to the throttle body bellcrank pin. Slide the rubber grommet from the cable housing, insert it into the dash panel until it's secure and then push the cable housing through the opening. Within the vehicle, fasten the clip to the dash panel, thread the core of the throttle cable through the opening in the top of the pedal arm and push the cable retainer inside the opening in the arm until it locks in place. Route the cable under the dash panel and into the routing clip, fit the air box back to the throttle body and then try the accelerator pedal before powering up the engine.
