2003 Dodge Intrepid Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2003 Dodge Intrepid?
A: The first step for service and repair of the upper intake manifold is to take off the negative cable from the battery remote jumper terminal and the Inlet Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor connector, followed by removing both the air inlet resonator and inlet tube. After that, get rid of the throttle cable and speed control cable coming from the throttle and then take out the throttle cable bracket. Separate the electrodes from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor. In addition, take out the Vapor Purge hose, Brake Booster hose, Speed Control Servo and Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose. Relax the upper fastener connect the throttle body support bracket and then take out the manifold attaching bolts followed by the top manifold. Check for damage, cracks or wrong-shaped and broken gaskets around the manifold, along with clogged EGR ports; change the manifold if needed and clear out EGR ports during cleaning spells. In case your vacuum port gets damaged, use a repair procedure. For installation, clear and examine the surfaces that need to be sealed to make sure the gaskets are intact. Match the two manifolds together, install the attached bolts and give each bolt a tightening torque of 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) in order. Install the upper screw at the throttle body support bracket and afterward reattach the speed control servo, PCV, brake booster and vapor purge hoses. Connect the MAP Sensor, TPS Sensor and IAC Motor again to the electrical connectors, put the throttle cable bracket in place and join the throttle control cables to the throttle arm and to the bracket. After that, place the air inlet resonator and inlet tube, hook up the IAT Sensor connector and join the negative cable to the battery remote jumper terminal.
