How to Maintain and Repair a Fuel Tank on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?

In order to repair the fuel tank unit, the fuel tank must be drained and removed, which releases the fuel system pressure. Use Special Tool 6856 to remove the fuel pump module locknut then carefully remove the module. Replace the rubber gasket, install the new module and tighten the locknut according to torque specifications before reinstalling the tank.
