2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Throttle Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Throttle Cable for a 3.7L V-6 Engine on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Hold up the accelerator pedal, then remove the plastic cable retainer and the throttle cable core wire from the top of the pedal arm. After that, unhook the metal clip on the dash and remove the air resonator box at the throttle body. Pull the cable from its dash spot and let the housing slide into the engine bay. Jam the throttle into its widest angle and remove the pin at the end of the throttle cable from the throttle body bellcrank. To remove the throttle cable, press on the release tab using a pick or screwdriver, take care not to overdo it and break the tab, then move the plastic mount toward the vehicle's right side. Mount the accelerator cable plastic with the end in the hole of the throttle body mounting bracket. With the throttle open and held steady, push the throttle cable pin into the throttle body bellcrank. Guide the cable housing into the rubber grommet and push it through the open hole in the dash until the metal clip is against the dash panel. Feed the core of the throttle cable into the pedal arm top and push the plastic retaining piece into the hole where the throttle attachment meets the pedal arm until it locks in place. After that, put the air resonator tube onto the throttle body and press the accelerator pedal to make sure there is no binding before beginning the engine.
