2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Shock Absorber in a Link/Coil Front Suspension on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should begin the service for your shock absorber in the Link/Coil Front Suspension by taking out the nut, retainer and grommet on the topmost stud close to the engine. After that, take out the three nuts from the upper shock bracket and remove the bolt holding the shock absorber to the axle bracket in the bracket. Begin the installation by fitting the lower retainer and grommet to the upper stud and next pass the shock absorber up through the spring from beneath the hood. Close the lower bolt until reached 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), then add the upper shock bracket and three nuts, closing them to a tightness of 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs). After that, fit the upper grommet and retainer and screw on the upper shock nut, tightening it to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
