Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Engine Mount on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: The front engine mount should be serviced by first disconnecting the battery negative cables and taking out the viscous fan/drive assembly. With the vehicle hoisted, set up engine support fixture tools 8534 and steel bracket tool # 8534A. Kick out the thru-bolt and nut, then raise the engine just a little to remove the insulator bolts. Get rid of the insulator in the vehicle. Raise the engine just a bit, fit the insulator to the mounting location and secure the bolts to the proper torque. With tool # 8534, lower the engine and guide the mount and thru-bolt into the frame mounted support cushion brackets. Place the thru-bolt nut and apply 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) of torque to it. After removing the engine support fixture tool # 8534, lower the vehicle, fit the viscous fan/drive assembly and attach both negative battery cables.
