2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair Brake Line and brake hose on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: A preformed metal brake tube is suggested for brake hose and line service and repair, but double-wall steel tube can be temporary on vehicles where the original parts are missing. For preventing kinks and twists in metal brake tubes, only bending and flaring tools made for the job are useful. Start with a Tubing Cutter and cut off the damaged part, then use reaming to ensure a good flare at the cut edges. Set the replacement tube nut onto the tube and insert the tube into the flaring tool. Lay the gauge over the end of the tube and insert the tubing into the jaws of the flaring tool, pushing till it connects with the correct notch in the gauge for the tube's diameter. Twist the tool bar of the tube, bring it close to tight and then install the plug into the gauge. Turn the compression disc over the gauge and set the tapered flaring screw in the middle of the disc's recess. Fasten the tool until the plug gauge is snugly in the flaring tool's jaws and move the plug gauge aside to finish making the inverted flare.
