2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Van A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the A/C Accumulator on 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
A: Put the negative battery cable out of circuit and service the refrigerant system by recovering the refrigerant in the first step. Draw out the screw that holds the A/C accumulator to its bracket, then the screw that joins the liquid line block fitting to the A/C accumulator and disconnect the liquid line block fitting from the A/C accumulator. All opened refrigerant line fittings should have their ends plugged or taped while you work on them. Then, take out the screw holding the A/C accumulator outlet to the suction line jumper block fitting and disconnect the A/C accumulator outlet from the suction line jumper block fitting, after covering or taping over all opened refrigerant line fittings with plastic plugs before taking out the A/C accumulator out of the engine compartment. Take out the tape or plugs on both the fitting and the A/C accumulator outlet, fit the A/C accumulator outlet to the suction line jumper block fitting and use a screw to hold them in place, tightening it until the reading on the torque wrench reads 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). After that, take the tape or plugs off the liquid line block fitting and A/C accumulator inlet, connect the liquid line block fitting to the A/C accumulator inlet and secure it with a screw, made firm when tightened to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Attach the negative battery cable, remove all refrigerant and top up the refrigerant system. Should the A/C accumulator be changed, add 1 fluid ounce (30 milliliters) of recommended refrigerant oil to the entire system before recharging it further.
