2003 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Starter Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate and Replace a Starter Motor and Solenoid Assembly on 2003 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: On the left rear side of the engine sits the combination of the starter motor and solenoid assembly. The first step is to cut the negative cable from the battery. Remove the bolt that holds the transmission bellhousing to the wiring trough under the car's hood and then cut some nylon harness-retaining ties that are near the starter motor. After that, loosen the two nuts securing the starter solenoid wiring harness and split the connector and cable from the solenoid wire stud. Place the vehicle up on supports and remove the two bolts holding the starter in place (E14Torx). Once you have managed to install the transmission, again raise the vehicle from the four wheel stands and secure the starter motor to the transmission's housing. Finish by applying the two specified bolts according to the assembly guide. Reduce the vehicle and join the battery cable and solenoid wiring to your solenoid using the two nuts, while ensuring you follow the specified torque. Install the wiring trough and bolt it tight, put new nylon ties in the wiring channel and attach the negative battery cable lastly.
