2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System for Suction Hose on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first thing to do is disconnect the negative cable from the battery and let it cool and then remove the refrigerant from the system. After removing the nut from the evaporator end, slide the suction line and liquid line off their studs and don't forget to cover any exposed refrigerant fittings with plugs or tape before taking the assembly out of the clip. You should remove the bolt securing the small fitting too and replace the tape and plugs on the other ends, this time covering all of the suction line hoses that lead back to the vehicle. When installing, prevent any hose bends from being sharp and keep a bend radius longer than 10 times the diameter of the pipe, placing flexible lines at least two external inches from the exhaust manifold. When all connections are well sealed without leaks, take away the tape or caps covering the suction line block fitting and compressor manifold, then attach the suction line block fitting to the manifold and tighten the mounting bolt to 25.4 Nm (225 in. lbs.). Took the tape or plugs off on the liquid and suction line fittings, placed the suction line block on top of the liquid and evaporator studs and tightened it with the nut to a torque of 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). After finishing, plug back in the battery negative cable, clear out the refrigerant and add more refrigerant.
