2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System for Discharge Hose on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You should always disconnect the battery negative cable before you recover the refrigerant and replace the A/C discharge hose/line. Unplug the high pressure transducer from the system and take the discharge line from the condenser inlet, with all opened line fittings being taped or filled with plugs. Following that, remove the bolt fixing the discharge line fitting to the compressor and ensuring all refrigerant line fittings are covered by either plugs or tape, unfasten the discharge line assembly from the vehicle. Make sure there are no sudden bends or kinks in the refrigerant piping, as they will decrease the unit's efficiency; bend the hoses so there are at least ten times the diameter for radius and ensure the distance between the flexible hose refrigerant lines and the exhaust manifold is at least 80 millimeters (3 inches). After sealing all connections with tape or plugs, unwrap or unplug the discharge line block from both the fitting and the manifold on the compressor and put them back together, tightening the bolt to 25.4 Nm (225 in. lbs.). Pull out the tape or plugs from the condenser's refrigerant line fittings, link the discharge line to the condenser inlet and tighten the nut to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Screw on the a/c high pressure transducer, attach the negative cable to the battery, clear out the refrigerant and load the system with refrigerant.
