2003 Jeep Wrangler Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Change an Oil Filter on 2003 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before you start, lift the vehicle and place a container under the oil filter spot to collect the drain oil. When working on the oil filter, make certain the strap on the remove/install tool is touching the base lock seam under the can, as it gets extra support from the can's base plate. Turn the oil filter counterclockwise using a suitable wrench to take it out. Make sure the mounting surface of the filter is smooth, level and free from waste parts and gasket pieces when you install it. Screw the new oil filter in place, first greasing the gasket with clean oil and tighten it to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
