2004 Jeep Wrangler Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Change Engine Oil and Replace the Oil Filter on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Replace the engine oil according to the interval given by the manufacturer, make sure your hands and other body parts are protected when doing so, because contact with engine oil can be unpleasant and bad for your health. Wash every part of your skin that was exposed in soap and water and under no circumstances should you use gasoline, diesel fuel, thinner or solvents to clean it. You should speak to your local dealership or a state agency to find out where to properly dispose of used engine oil. Start by allowing the engine to heat up before positioning the vehicle on level ground and when that is done, switch off the engine. First, put the vehicle on safety stands, remove its oil fill cap and set a drain pan below the crankcase drain before starting. Pull the drain plug out of the crankcase, allow the oil to collect in the pan, inspect the drain plug threads and install new ones and a gasket if they appear damaged. Whilst removing the oil filter, screw in the drain plug underneath the crankcase and replace the old filter with a new one. Lessen the vehicle to ensure its height is normal and then put in the engine oil as prescribed by popping the oil fill cap back on. Turn on the engine and search for any leaks and when done, shut the engine and check the oil level.
