2004 Chrysler Concorde Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Ignition Lock Cylinder on 2004 Chrysler Concorde?
A: Before starting to service or repair the ignition lock cylinder, disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Disconnect the tilt level's attaching screw and pull out the lever before you remove the steering column's covers. Turn the key to the middle position so that the lock cylinder retaining tab drops. Push down the tab and slide the lock cylinder up and out of its place. First, put the key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the run position which depresses the retaining tab. Then bring the shaft at the end of the lock cylinder and line it up with the socket, both in the run position, on the housing. Match the lock cylinder's position with those of the housing grooves and pull it in until the tab is visible through the aperture in the housing. Put the key in the off position and then take it out. If a new lock cylinder is put in a vehicle with a column shift, change and check the interlock cassette; if you have a floor shift, only check the interlock cable. Make sure to put the upper and lower covers onto the steering column, attach the tilt lever and link the negative cable again to the battery.
