2004 Chrysler Crossfire Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Automatic Transmission Filter on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: To replace the filter in the automatic transmission, have the car raised and supported, place a drain pan below the drain plug, remove it with the gasket and allow all the fluid to drain out. Then disconnect the oxygen sensor wire harness from the heat shield and take out the screws to place the heat shield out of the way. After completing the other steps, eliminate the rest of the screws and remove the transmission pan. Throw out the old filter once you have it from the valve body. Work the drain plug to remove old oil from the transmission housing and oil pan, then clean the gasket also before fitting a new filter. Should the transmission pan gasket appear damaged or swollen, change it and load the transmission pan back in place, tightening all the bolts to 8 Nm. Fasten the new drain plug, with its gasket, to a tightness of 20 Nm. Put the heat shield back in place with its bolts and tighten them all to 8 Nm. After looping the oxygen sensor wire harness into the heat shield, connect its wire harness connectors before bringing the vehicle down. Make sure to add the right fluid to the transmission.
