2004 Chrysler Pacifica Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service a Catalytic Converter on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Servicing a catalytic converter requires careful handling, since its parts can seem alike to pipe assemblies and replacement components may vary internally depending on strict emission rules or the car's age. It is crucial to ensure the exhaust has cooled down, because it is extremely hot, notably close to the catalytic converter. Start by taking out the negative battery terminal at the jumper port placed near the right strut tower. After that, hoist up the vehicle and uninstall the exhaust system. After that, detach the torca clamp and carefully divide the catalytic converter from the muffler. Make sure the ends of the catalytic converter and muffler are clean and throw away any broken or worn insulators, rusted clamps, supports or connecting parts. The parts used in your exhaust system should always be original equipment or if that isn't possible, their equivalents. First, fasten the torca band clamp on the catalytic converter, place the muffler inside the tube and, when the guide pin seats in its slot, tighten the clamp to 54 Nm (480 inch lbs.).
