- Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 2004 Dodge Caravan?A: In order to service or repair the starter motor, you should begin by shutting the hood latch and lifting the hood. First, disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then pull the plug from the solenoid wire terminal. Slide out the B+ wire and release it from the terminal. Also, remove the solenoid wire plus the B+ wire from the terminals on the starter. Following that, pull out the lower bolt, the upper bolt and the ground wire, before you remove the starter. Install the starter in place on the vehicle, then fix it with the lower bolts to the transaxle bellhousing. After installing the upper bolt and ground wire, set the solenoid and the B+ wires onto the starter terminals. Bolt the nut onto the B+ wire to connect it to the terminal and screw the solenoid wire connector in place on it. After that, reconnect the cable attached to the battery negative and verify that the starter system functions well.
